Ownway Stories is operated by Atelier Atode LLC (“we”, “us”). We create and sell personalized printed children’s books in the United States. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello [at] ownwaystories.com.
Information we collect
- Order details — your name, email address, shipping address, and phone number, so we can process and deliver your order.
- Payment information — card payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Book personalization — the first name of the child the book is for, and the challenge, character, and optional dedication you choose. We use these only to create the book.
- Usage data — basic information about how the site is used (pages viewed, device type) through the tools described below.
How we use your information
- To create, print, and ship your book.
- To send order- and account-related emails.
- To provide customer support and handle returns.
- To understand and improve how the site performs.
- To meet our tax, accounting, and legal obligations.
Service providers
We share the minimum necessary information with providers that operate the service on our behalf:
- Stripe — payment processing and sales-tax calculation.
- Lulu — printing and shipping of your book.
- Supabase — secure hosting of account and order data.
- Resend — transactional and order emails.
- Content and illustration generation providers — to produce the personalized story and artwork from the first name and options you provide.
- Google Analytics and Meta — site analytics and advertising measurement (see “Your choices and rights”).
We do not sell your personal information.
Children’s privacy
Ownway Stories is intended for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The only information about a child we receive is the first name (and any optional dedication) that you, the adult, provide to personalize the book. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Unpurchased previews are automatically deleted after 7 days. Order and account records are kept as long as needed to fulfill your order and to meet legal, accounting, and tax requirements, then deleted or anonymized. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing hello [at] ownwaystories.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell your data. Our use of Google Analytics and the Meta pixel may be considered “sharing” for advertising; to opt out, email us at hello [at] ownwaystories.com or enable a browser-level opt-out signal (Global Privacy Control), which we honor. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Security
We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected by the “last updated” date above.
